3.7 Selection and Ordering3.7.1 Selection of Model-TypeIn accordance with the condition of application and allowable space around constant spring hanger,select a suitable Model and Type from Table 3-2-1～3-2-3.3.7.2 Selection of SizeFabrication Range of each Model-Type is limited as indicated in column of Maximum Capacity (kN・mm)in Table 3-2-1～3-2-3. This Maximum Capacity is calculated by the following formula.Maximum Capacity = Design Load x Total TravelTotal Travel = Design Travel + Extra TravelThough there is no regulation to determine the Extra Travel and Total Travel, it is recommended tomake an enough Extra Travel toward the direction of design travel. According to Sanwa Tekki'sstandard, Total Travel is calculated by the following formula.Total Travel = Design Travel x 1.2 + 20mmSince Sanwa Tekki's constant spring hangers provide Total Travel from 50mm to 400mm with 10mminterval, the one digit of calculated total travel shall be round up.For example, if the design travel is 96mm,Total Travel will be 96 x 1.2 + 20 = 135.2 ⇒ 140mm.After determining Total Travel, suitable size can be easily selected by using the Load Capacity Charthereinafter attached in this catalog. Because each Model-Type has its limited fabrication range, theavailable range of each Model Type is divided and indicated by the colored lines in the chart.Select the column of Total Travel at the upper portion of chart, and find the smallest figure bigger thanthe design load in the same column. The most suitable size is indicated in the left and right side of thesame line.If you find a figure just same as the design load, the size shall be selected from one line below thefigure. If you cannot find figure in the limited colored range, the desired Model-Type cannot be selectedfor the design data, and Model-Type should be changed to other Model-Type having a wider range.After successfully finishing the selection works, the selected Model-Type and Size should be specifiedwith the design data of travel and load.If you have any difficulty to select a suitable Model-Type and Size of constant spring hangers, you canconsult with Sanwa Tekki by showing your design data and requirements.3.
